Thomas Jefferson is said to have recorded the first recipe for ice cream in The United States; a dessert he learned to love while living in France. Simple and elegant, vanilla ice cream's popularity has lasted since the Declaration of Independence!

Cumin and Paprika are a spice-match made in heaven. They go beautifully with baked eggplant. Slice thick rounds of eggplant, lay them flat on a baking tray, sprinkle with olive oil, salt, cumin, and paprika, then bake for 15-20 minutes on each side at 350 degrees. Sprinkle with lemon juice for a simple side dish.

In Turkey, people often combine tahin (tahini, a sesame seed paste) and pekmez (a molasses) to use as a topping for breads. One is nutty, and the other one sweet, so they combine beautifully!
