The Bitter Break-Up

If you have any friends that have just broken up with their boyfriends, make them one of these drinks. The whiskey will definitely wipe the pain away. Hyssop is an herb originating in the Eastern Mediterranean. You can find it dried at Kalustyans. It pairs well with fatty meats, as well as makes a great herb for fruit compotes.

1 oz whiskey
1 tablespoon hyssop syrup
1 seckel pear

Shave two thin slices off the side of the pear and place inside the glass. Pour over the whiskey and hyssop syrup. Add ice if you like.

Hyssop Syrup:
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
1 tsp dried hyssop

Combine all of the ingredients together in a small saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer until the sugar dissolves and the liquid becomes syrupy. Take off the heat and let cool. Strain and keep refrigerated.
