Oaxacan Hibiscus Margaritas

Try this cocktail as an aperitivo for a Mexican meal, like the Oaxacan Guelaguetza menu.

If you cannott be there in person, be there in spirit. You can dilute the concentrate with some cold water when you are done with the margaritas, and serve it as a nice iced tea with lunch.

1/3 cup dried hibiscus flowers
2 cups boiling water
2 oz tequila
1 T agave nectar
1 juicy lime
Mint sprigs

Make a concentrate of agua de jamaica by infusing the hibiscus flowers with the boiling water for about 5 minutes. Strain and cool.

Combine one shot of the concentrate with the tequila, lime juice, and agave nectar in a cocktail shaker with about a handful of ice. Shake it up hard and then pour into martini glasses. Garnish with the mint sprigs.

Serves two drinks.
