Grandpa's Recipe for an Old Fashioned

Muddle one cube of sugar and Angostura bitters (crucial ingredient) in an Old Fashioned glass.
Muddle in also small amount of Maraschino cherry juice (optional ingredient).
Toss in ice cubes to taste.
Pour in bourbon to taste (blended Bourbon is better in mixed drinks). Branch (plain/still) water may be added to taste.
Garnish with one Maraschino cherry with stem, so as to get it out (as a kid I loved to eat them whiskey-soaked after cocktail-time).
Garnish with one thin slice of orange.
