Rose Water

Rose Water is one of Kitchen Caravan's favorite ingredients. The process of making rose water originated in Persia, but it is now carried out throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Rose water is produced during the same steam-distilling process that makes essential rose oil. You can find a variety of rose water brands in many international grocery stores, because it is now produced all over the world, including in France, Turkey, Morocco, and Iran. We encourage you to try a few brands from different countries and find your favorite version.

Rose water is a wonderful ingredient to use in making desserts, because it adds a light and romantic touch to sweets. It loves being included in honey syrups that are paired with crispy phyllo or kataifi doughs. It is also known to be an anti-depressant, which is why we created the Rose Mint Soda recipe for our beverage page. Add it to your teas or water to promote feelings of happiness. It is important to remember that a little goes a long way, so use it sparingly.

Fun Fact:

Rose Water is a natural mood lifter. A drop or two in some water or sprinkled on dessert will take away the day's blues!
